Something Good This Way Comes
Posted by Abrra on Tuesday, December 29, 2009
Sometimes plans work out, sometimes not. More about that later. At Foxwoods I met Dawn, SF, Bubbly, TOfan, refnaf, djxox, river, rapture, ninaf, knotliser and her daughter Nora and so many others I had not met till that day. Lots of hugs and introductions all around. Everyone who came within my reach was handed a CFTH Tour Live CD. Sharing David’s music is a passion of mine.
The VIP was nice. When it was time to go inside for sound check, I was able to get a 2nd row seat! The big screens were on during sound check and David kept glancing at them as he sang. I think the reality of the importance of the Billboard Live stream was finally sinking in. David sang Happy Birthday to a girl named Katie who was in a wheelchair and was near the stage. He leaned down close to sing to her. She was the happiest girl in the world for that moment in time. It was very emotional for all of us.
I found my seat for the concert and it was in the first row! Yes! This was a hope I had cherished for so many concerts and here it was at last! Dawn and I sat on the left end of center section. I looked to my right and the next fifteen seats across the front were filled with all my online friends. We could not have planned such a perfect experience, all of us sitting together on the first row like that. Security told us no video or be removed from the theater. Djxox is a hero! She sat quietly with her camera in her lap and only looked into the lens occasionally as if taking still shots. She captured many videos that were perfection.
The show began and every song was so full of energy pulled from the crowd’s love. At one point David announced the Billboard Live streaming to the world. He thanked all the fans in the theater and those watching online and waved to all the international fans, saying he wished he could see them. The Christmas set was so well done. He hit every note and filled every heart and soul in that theater with his voice. He owned the stage and I could see the respect in the eyes of his fellow musicians. Steve, the guitarist, often gave David a thumbs up or a nod of approval.
After the show, I met with most of the ladies mentioned previously, at a dinner in the casino. We talked nonstop about David. Surprise!
The next morning, Dawn, refnaf, TOfan and I, all headed in Dawn’s car to Stroudsburg. Fun times listening to the live CD and refnaf’s ipod selections of party remixes of David’s songs. We made it safely in about four hours and dropped the Snowangelz off at their hotel, then found a parking spot for the night. The VIP was a LONG wait. I met Burkey and her daughter, KT, archiesfan4life, Zoe and some men from FOD. I love that men come to the shows to see David, rather than simply as drivers. More CD’s given and hugs exchanged all around.
At this show we had seats on the right side 3rd row. It was a small place so the sound was LOUD from the speakers ten feet from our seats. Dawn and I bonded with an usher who told us she had never heard of David before, but liked his rehearsal very much. A fan had given her his CFTH CD, so we told her to be sure and get it signed after the show if she could. By the end of the first pop song she was toast! She had a seat on the aisle in front of us. She turned around and gushed, “He is GOOD!” Fangirl in the making FTW! She cried at Ave Maria. We had warned her this was going to be a concert she would never forget. By the end of “Oh Holy Night” the usher had her CFTH Cd in hand, anxious to bring it backstage for David Archuleta to autograph for posterity.
I am not the religious type, but something happened at the end of Oh Holy Night in Stroudsburg. As we were leaving up the side aisle, folks were talking about how he looked at the end of it. Many hands covered dropped jaws. David sang the high notes and the beams of light surrounded him. He literally disappeared into the light and emerged as an angel. It was stunning. Not at any show have I seen this phenomenon occur. I wasn’t looking for it; it just happened. Something heavenly and spiritual happened. I know it. I witnessed it.
With blizzard conditions predicted for the Northeast, I decided to go back home to Massachusetts the next morning by train, missing Boston and Westbury. I was able to transfer my VIP’s to other fans with help from Kristen, so I’m glad someone got a chance to see David in my place. So sadly, as I said, my best-laid plans did not all come to pass. My concert experience ended here. But as fate would have it, my story does not. To be continued….

David Archuleta
He may have only been the runner-up on American Idol in 2008, but David Archuleta won the real prize — the love and affection of millions of teen girls (and their moms). This consummate nice boy loves his family and still hasn’t been kissed — he’s waiting for the right girl! It’s no wonder we have a total Crush on this cutie!

Sorry you had to miss the last 2 shows but sounds like you had a great time and made it to 2 amazing concerts. And you made a lot of people happy with those CDs. BTW, I just got mine in the mail yesterday. It is beautiful, thanks so much to you and Knotsliser for this labor of love. Can’t wait to listen to it today when I get the first chance. We all know that his live performances are a dynamic give and take between him and his fans. Like you say, he feeds off our energy. (Borg) 😉
That thing that happened at the end of Oh Holy Night…that was something very special, to affect you and others the way it did. We have seen him bow his head in prayer many times during this Christmas tour. I think he prays for the Spirit to be with him and everyone present. And I think that maybe he asks for that same Spirit to help him touch hearts and souls with his music. There was definitely someone else besides the band on that stage with David for this tour.

Even before I ever met you, your kind, generous spirit and bubbly sense of humour came through in your comments and gestures (not least of which was your first tour CD and your amazing David channel!).
It was so kind of you & Dawn to let Refnaf and I road-trip with you to Stroudsburg and as you so beautifully describe it, that was a concert I’ll never forget. Your OHN MGR is the first one that’s both given me chills & moved me to tears. Thank you!!!!

Abrra, I’m so glad to find out it was you in Stroudsburg that I almost sort of met in the crowd in the lobby. I’ve been wanting to say THANK YOU for the wonderful live cd that you handed out and only knew that it was someone from The Voice. Thank you for the awesome cd. Love your story as well, I was there, I know what you’re talking about. I was in a box seat and could see the entire stage and the entire audience. David sang Ave Maria to a silent crowd and at the end was a deafening cheer and everyone rose to their feet in standing ovation. It was overwhelming. I can’t add any more to you Oh Holy Night description. I think we all walked out of there in a daze. Thank you again for your generosity.

What a blessing to have witnessed the greatness that is David so many times and to be able to share this experience with so many of our online friends. (I’m jealous being a west coaster and all, but one day…}. That Oh Holy Night performance was magical on youtube, I get chills just imagining what it would have like to have been there. I have enjoyed your CD’s so much. The new set you sent are a work of love. I feel very fortunate to be able to share at least online the amazing David fans. I will be waiting for the rest of the story.
Angelica….Has CBS lost their mind?

Dear Abrra, Thank you for the recap. You made me feel like I was right there with you. I am so glad you got to go to two of your concerts and wish the weather would have been a little more cooperative so you could have made the other two. I agree with you that something extraordinary happened at Stroudsburg, even the video gives me the chills. I am thrilled that you got to witness that incredible “Oh Holy Night”. There were so many simply amazing nights on this tour and I am so thankful that I had the chance to experience it live and through others for the ones I could not go to. Thanks again, you are one of David’s best supporters ever and that is saying a lot because, we sure love him don’t we though?

What a great recap Kara! I know exactly what you mean when you describe David singing Oh Holy Night. I’m not a religious person.. haven’t attended church with any regularity in YEARS. BUT, when David was singing that song, I felt his religious spirit so strongly.. it was just pouring out of him. As much as his singing has left me in awe many times, I’ve never experienced that sense of spirituality before. The high I felt after witnessing that stayed with me for hours and hours.
So sorry I didn’t get to see you in Boston but I’m glad you had such a wonderful time at your shows!

Abs: You’re the ambassador for all things David. You got to go to two wonderful shows; one that will put David down in history as one of the first artists whose concert was broadcast live, “streaming to the world” from Foxwoods at BillboardLive.com. And by all accounts, Stroudsburg was a religious experience. The video gives us a hint of what it was like; one can only imagine how it felt to experience it live.
Thank you for giving so selflessly of your heart by sharing David’s music and spirit with so many of us. You have to know how happy you make us!

Abrra, I love your story. I was at Stroudsburg and I think I met you in the lobby. You gave me a CD. Thank you. I was in the box on the left as you face the stage. I was there with Tom, Candy, ABMS, & JeffR. David was amazing, as he always is, but that night he delivered songs like Prayer of The Children, Ave Maria, Silent Night, and others with such emotion… and Oh Holy Night came from a place within David where lives the spiritual being that is so much of what draws us to him and his incredible voice. The ending of OHN sends chills up my spine and literally makes one feel like weeping. He is truly amazing and we are only just beginning to realize how he and his music can affect us.

OHN ending was beautiful, but the light changed and David reappeared almost as an Angel. It was moving for everyone in the theater. We all just stood and looked at each other, wondering if it was”just me” or had we all witnessed the same experience.
I am thrilled that you enjoy the cd’s as much as I do! It’s on 24/7 in my room.

You are testing me ? LOL Watch the video MGR I made with this article. The light beams come up and surround him. The mist on stage concealed him for a few seconds. He seems to vanish into the radiant beams of light. When the lights come all the way down, he is visible again. Some of that may be lost through a filtered camera lens. To the naked eye it was glorious to see him emerge out of the mist, as if an Angel who had finished talking to God. That’s how it felt. To me and many in attendance.

I’m sorry Mother Nature didn’t cooperate, but of the four concerts you were to see, I think you were meant to see these two, especially Stroudsburg. I also definitely think David has had a presence on stage with him, be it angels or the Holy Spirit, it most palpable, even in the videos.

Abrra, good times in Foxwoods with you! Wish you could have made it to Westbury as well. Both were unforgettable for different reasons. I still can’t believe I was there. David has given me courage to do things I never thought I would do, like brave a possible blizzard in parts unknown just to see & hear The Voice! Thing is, I would do it again & again without a second thought. 😀
David is either on his way to El Paso now or he will be early in the morning. Hoping we will have complete videos of his performance. I’m wondering who will be accompanying him to El Paso and hope he knows we will be there with him in spirit since most of us won’t be there in person. 😥 Praying David has a safe & enjoyable flight.
Good night, and for David…
Dear lord,
Please take care of David.
Watch over him, protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he feels weary.
Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt.
Give him joy when he feels sad and never allow David to feel alone or lonely.
Give us the wisdom to always do right by David.
Help us support David so that it’s always in his best interest.
CLOAK DAVID IN YOUR PROTECTIVE ARMS AND PLEASE LORD, KEEP DAVID AND HIS VOICE HEALTHY AND STRONG as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen
David, have a good & restful night’s sleep with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always.

The Brut Sun Bowl will be televised on CBS-TV, starting at 2 pm ET. We’ll be sure to post any live streams we can find for you fantastic international fans!
David’s twitpic…R.I.P Tortoro…His brother’s dog chewed of his eyes.

Abrra–thank you for your recap of your times with David. It sounds like an amazing time for all of you. David brings that special spirit to any place that he is in, and you don’t have to be religious to feel it. It just happens, and it’s something I will never forget, so I can feel what you’re expressing in your post. Thank you again for today’s words, and I can’t wait for the ending.

Djafan – Thanks for posting that wonderful mgr of David singing Hallelujah. Strange, but tonight before I watched that vid, the word Hallelujah kept popping into my head. I know what the word means, but all I could come up with was that it would make a good name for a cat. This from a person who owns a gray cat named…”gray cat.” Then I come here and there is that mgr of Hallelujah and I looked the word up. It is Hebrew for “praise to the Lord.”
I have also named cats Ebenezer, Hildegard, and Ulysses T. Snodgrass III. So ya, I fail at cat nomenclature big time..
Nomenclature…that would make a good name too, don’t you think?

I was also having trouble viewing some of the embedded videos so I downloaded firefox and am no longer having issues. In fact, “The Voice” has never looked more lovely on my computer! For anyone else having the same problem, I urge you to take dja’s advice to download firefox. My Adobe flash player is up to date but the videos still show up randomly when using IE or AOL as a server. So yeah, Firefox is the way to go!
Angelica #28 “Nomenclature…that would make a good name too, don’t you think?”
But what would be the cat’s nickname? No? No men? Men? Clature?
I have two cats, Peaches and Trixie. Of course we never call them by their given names. Peaches is Peachy or Affaweejerhead, while Trixie’s nickname is Tricky. Since we’re speaking nicknames, I used to have a dog named, Ginger. We never called her Ginger; she was known as JeanPetBeautyCanine. But what’s in a name? I think I’ll go to bed now. LOL

Just came from chatting with Dave Filice on the Golden Archie site. What a sweetheart he is. I met him in Lafayette and was so impressed with his humble, gracious demeanor. He came out to the parking lot of the venue where some of us were waiting (it was almost midnight.) Stood and talked to us for the longest time and then carried stuff the length of the parking lot to David for him to sign and lugged it back out to us. He had such high praise for David musically and personally. Then, because he had gone in with our stuff and told David we were out there, David himself appeared a few minutes after Dave left. Hey, I would not have waited that long out there but I was riding with others. I’m glad I did now though. But I digress….ah le tour, l’amour
Anyway, he was just as sweet tonight and said David was such a pleasure to tour with and so gifted and one of the nicest people he has ever met. He also said Kendra took over for Mike K on the Christmas tour as musical director and that she is one of the most gifted musicians he has ever worked with. I think he said she was “friggin amazing” or something. He said he would love to tour with David again, that his music is “challenging” and he loved all the songs from the Christmas tour. He is loving married life and his favorite city in the world is Verona, Italy, because it’s so beautiful. So that’s a rap of what I recall. Will post the transcript later. There was a picture of him on the chat room wall and Dave commented that it was from the Hard Rock Cafe and I posted, “cute.” Then the mods said something like “doesn’t Dave look good in that pic?” And I submitted, I said!
Y’all know what I mean. Someone said he looked a lot like David and she mistook him for David once and he said he gets that a lot. He’ll walk out of the bus and girls will scream until he gets closer and it’s funny to him. He said he could play David’s stunt double. LOL. Yeah. This bass player is working for ya David. I approve.

“Tonight is New Years Eve for many people. Please be safe and be grateful for the year 2009 and all the gifts…”
Why do I find this so amusing? 🙂

Welcome Rapture! So good to see you here and as your old cyber self again.
Bebe#41 – I was thinking that too after watching that vlog. He knows we worry over his health at the slightest symptom. What else does he know. Act nonchalant. 8)
Abrra#43 – Is it a riddle? I think my head is wobbling.

Good Morning All,
Everyone ready for “the” Sun Bowl performance? I’m so ready!
Hi Rapture, so glad you found your way here!
Ahhhh…yes…David knows way more than we imagine…I’m with Angelica…Act nonchalant. 8)
bebe…I love the big pictures!
Abrra…Do you think maybe Paula has been watching David’s tweets? Maybe learning a thing or two? But we know David is sincere, is she?
Angelica…did that help with the wobbly head? When I was 19 that thing that holds your head up was missing I think…lol

According to this David will be singing the NA….

Even non-football fanatics will enjoy the Helen of Troy halftime spectacle, featuring a musical performance by David Archuleta. Throughout the 2008 “American Idol” competition, David captured the hearts of millions of Americans as he impressed the judges and the nation with his amazing vocal skills. In addition to a stirring halftime performance, David Archuleta will sing our national anthem.

I suppose that makes sense and that’s what CBS will air – the National Anthem. I was hoping they’d air something of “David’s”, but it will be beautiful just the same. 🙂
40 minutes till game time here in NY!
Thanks for the welcome, I’m glad I found my way here also.

Abrra #44 Did you find Paula Abdul’s comment amusing in a good way? I hope so because I believe she’s sincere. Here’s the rest of Paula’s tweet you saw this morning. It was sent in three parts:
“Tonight is New Years Eve for many people. Please be safe and be grateful for the year 2009 and all the gifts… and lessons that came along with it. Be excited that the New Year is approaching us… ..Health first, because without it we have nothing. Set your intent and goals to make 2010 the best year yet! I love you all! Paula”
She also tweeted David a heartfelt message on his birthday and included the hashtag to make sure it trended:
“Hey @DavidArchie it’s Paula. Just thinking of you on your birthday…hope you have a blast! Congrats on all your success! Love, Paula #happybdayarchie”
She knew David’s worth on AI and always let it show. Props to Paula Abdul; she’s one of David’s fans!

I am home from work and still giggling over Paula’s comment.
Here’s why.
Does she think only part of the earth celebrates New Years Eve?“Tonight is New Years Eve for many people.” Anyway, I caught me off guard as FUN-EE.

So many inspiring and touching moments have happened, it’s hard to put into words, but you did.
I love you all so very very much.
I’m going to grab my laptop.. and see if I can put something into words.
I don’t know if it will come together as heartfelt as Abrra’s did.. but I’ll do my best.

Dawn! Hey, good to have you with us.
But Abs, Vee said she was celebrating Christmas Day in Australia and it wasn’t Christmas Day here, it was only Christmas Eve. So maybe it is New Years Eve here, but New Years Day on some parts of the planet.
I think my heads starting to wobble again.

From the photos of David’s performance, he had a band backing him. Wonder who? Or am I seeing things? Anxiously awaiting good videos, but even with the crappy audios, he sounded amazing!
Journey is one of my faves. Saw them in concert in 1983 in Albuquerque when they were at the top of their game & Steve Perry WAS JOURNEY. A huge sold out arena with no pyrotechnics, no gimmics, just a great band with an awesome lead singer. David is considered a solo performer, but someday I hope David will find musicians who will make lifelong commitments to David.
Angelica, thanks for the Journey video..but I’ll bet David stole it & now “owns” that song now too..the little thief! 😆

David is in flight heading for home. In fact he may be landing very shortly but never too late to send prayers his way when he’s traveling. I knew there was no way he would stay away from his friends & family on NYE!
Dear lord,
Please take care of David.

I guess David couldn’t get a flight to Utah out of El Paso today, so he did the next best thing & flew to Dallas. At least he’s with “family”. His latest tweet…
“Made it safely to Dallas! Hanging with my cousin and aunt for New Years Eve. Had Indian food, and About to watch Sherlock Holmes”.

The band with David…Los Lonely Boys…one of my favorite bands. Had forgotten about them, wonder why…lol Great musicians, at first I thought it was them and then didn’t think so but with the better pictures it’s definitely them. They would be a great connection for David in regards to the spanish album.
Here is one of my favorite songs by them.
