How Do You Hold A Moonbeam In Your Hand? by bebereader and djafan

Posted by djafan on Saturday, December 12, 2009

Don’t even try to pin David down because it can’t be done. As soon as we find out where he is, he isn’t there anymore. Aside from his regular concert schedule, there are TV appearances, CD signings and phoners. We’ve seen promos for CFTH on network TV; selections from the CD are being cited as single of the week and The Voice is being referred to as “Character of the Month”.

Dear David, will we see you coming down to earth on a hot air balloon soon?

This really puts everything all in one place to see how busy he is. I have to say.. someone is finally doing a good job on promotion.. cause our boy is flippin everyplace. What a crazy jammed packed month for him… and he turns the ripe old age of 19 in just 16 days…

I hope he’s happy… I hope he’s enjoying all this.. cause he really is super duper busy.

Here’s a question for you all to ponder… does it seem that David is doing tons more .. than other idols? Or is it just because we follow his every move like he’s going to disappear if we don’t know what he’s doing from one moment to the next.

OR… is someone trying to balance one controversial ticket in their mist.. with just about the most G rated ticket they have in their inventory? (let me know if that’s too cryptic for ya)

Great post. Thanks so much for putting this all together.

Dawn, I’m not sure the “ticket holders” think that way. What’s in it for them??$$$. I’d rather give David credit. His hard work and persistence and are beginning to pay off.

One good David can defeat a sub par screeching runner up every time. David is a sure thing. He shows up and delivers every time. He never will cause a problem that others have to clean up.

Other Idols do have their careers on a slower climb. Being in the final surely got David more attention, then his talent took him the rest of the way. We do focus more on him so we do miss what is happening to Jason and Brooke, for example. They both have singles from first CD’s.I suppose their fans could tell you ALL the events and shows they have done. Promotion for them is not as intense. Frankly I would not know much about either of them with out reading their tweets.

Fans of the universe travel in the obit of THEIR star. It’s easy to miss out on the career of others when you only follow one path.

Djafan, bebe, I love this! I didn’t have to go anywhere else to find the most current news about David this morning. You have it all. And one of the most beautiful photos ever taken of David as well. What a way to wake up in the morning, **sigh**

I looked up the VIP pix from Waukegan cause I wanted to see David being a little nutty and in the Santa hat. He’s wearing the smiley shirt I gave him (the one from AC) AND he added the scarf I just gave him in KC! hahahaha! He really knows how to put a smile on my face, especially when there are clouds overhead. He is so very dear. He will just never know!

I think it’s a little of both but something has definitely changed. It’s not something you could put your finger on; it’s more something you can feel. And it feels like David’s career is picking up speed. We used to wait for appearances to pop up but now they’re happening at the same time at lightning speed, in promotion for CFTH, one of the best moves David made! And the timing couldn’t be better! Nobody sings Christmas songs better than The Voice. I always knew that eventually David’s worth would show itself; it was only a matter of time and I don’t think it had anything to do with balancing that ‘controversial ticket’. JMHO.

Karenkid: Welcome to The Voice! Thanks for that bit of info about David’s appearance on the CBS Early show. Which Monday is it? 12/14 or 12/21?

Skiffrower: Welcome to The Voice! I totally agree with you.

From the last post: Marlie you’re right. I’ve always been a fangirl but this puts the word fan in a whole different stratosphere!

SF: Had to run to the VIP pics to check out ‘nutty David’. You’re right; he had a big smile on his face in every picture and seemed to be having a fun time meeting his fans. How could someone look so good in 100 pictures? Check out that Santa hat!

I have found myself wondering what is at the root of this current media blitz also. Is it just that CFTH has sold well and the concerts have been amazing? Or has he served enough time in Idol purgatory (by that I guess I mean have Simon et al gotten over the ridiculous outcome of AI after Archuleta knocked out Cook)? Or maybe now that the public has mostly rejected the bad boy actions of Lambert it is time to try to promote a good guy with world class talent? Or is it just that David has worked so hard to overcome all of his perceived weaknesses that the media guys are taking notice? Or maybe all of the above? Hmmmm….Maybe we’ll never know.

Burkey, I would check with ILAA or Kristen about the VIP tix. Hope you get to use yours.

dja and Bebe, what a great thing having all the TNTC (medical term for, too numerous to count) appearances in one spot. That guy is getting busy! I can’t keep up with him anymore. So good job doing this. Thanks!

Dawn, I really think there is a massive upgrade in promotion and interest in our guy. He is doing all the right things like Abrra said, and winning friends and influencing lots of people who matter. Also, I think more people are beginning to notice the talent now that AI is long behind him and he is older.

David just tweeted “Cleveland, Ohio today!”

C’mon sweetie, we’re all here waiting for you. Just ran into some teenage girls huddled in the vending/ice machine room on my floor. I got my ice and turned to see they were all wearing David Archuleta shirts. I asked if they were going to the concert tonight. They said yeah, and when I told them “me too, they squeed and jumped around so ecstatically, you would have thought I had told them I could get them back stage. LOL!

The CBS Early Show says David Archuleta performs Dec. 14 on my TV guide for Directtv…

Karen…Hopefully it’s true and welcome to The Voice.

Angelica, Betsy, YJ, Rebecca and all others attending we’ll be here, have fun.

When I was doing all things David I was overwhelmed by all the things he has going on. His name is everywhere, the interviews were for the most part pretty good, treated with respect, like they now recognize the artist that he is. I started to put a list together, with bebe’s help and it does feel like something is up, the beginning of things to come. Some of it may or may not be because the current runner up fiasco, but what comes to mind is this tweet from David sometime back,

Had an amazing lunch at Fresco by Scotto! Went with my A&R guy, Jeff Fenster, and had a good meeting about making the new record! 1:27 PM Oct 22nd from txt

Jeff Fenster is Senior Vice President of A&R for the Zomba Label Group. Over the course of his career he has had a hand in discovering some of the biggest artists of our time, such as Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, and nurturing the career of established veterans like Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.

    http://www.artistshousemusic.org/videos/jeff+fenster

Listening to Jeff Fenster and what his job is made me all giddy for what they may have been planning for David. Seems like he is being recognized for his talent and potential, this might just be the beginning of things to come. Actually I’m quite sure of it….IMO.

Compiling David’s official schedule on this site is a labor of love. While we hear about his appearances one at a time, it’s not until you string the dates together that you realize that something wonderful is happening here; David is popping up everywhere. I just listened to the Rick Dees radio interview. Not quite two years makes a big difference in a teenager’s growth. David now handles interviews with so much ease now. He handles the tough questions like a pro and doesn’t flinch when given compliments.

Did you listen to him give singing lessons while demonstrating a few songs from CFTH in the ITunes Appl video?

“I play around with the melody more and so let’s say where I would go “sing choir of angels, sing in exhaltation…., I might go…” (and then he belts out the next line, almost the way he does it on the CD!

    Warms my heart, that!

Just got home and caught up on all things David. It appears David was exceedingly happy, or I should say happier than usual at the VIP again today. He sang Mary Did You Know and Pat a Pan. Oh, how I wish he had sung MDYK in KC. He did a soundcheck for PAP & Ave Maria, which was beautiful, but then we heard them again a couple of hours later. David didn’t ask what we wanted to hear. It was nothing like the way the other VIP’s have been described. He apologized about the possibility of a very small turn-out for his concert. And he was not happy about the cancellation of St Paul. Not that he wasn’t wonderful at picture taking time as usual, and before he left, he thanked everyone for coming. He needn’t have worried. The venue was not full but there were 1000-1200 people. Pretty good considering there was a snow storm looming. And I think the decision to stay put in KC was a very good one.

I am hoping to hear from you Angelica, right after the concert! I know you will find just the right words to describe what you are about to witness. You just have that gift. Your love & admiration for David runs deep as we have seen from your videos and writings about David. So don’t keep us waiting too long! 😀

and speaking of our moonbeam…it sounds like he is just killing the audiences every night! Like he is able to just keep amping it up…and then all the unexpected little changes and additions to the program keeping it new and fresh! And confidence is starting to ooze out of every pore!

Pretty amazing stuff what he is doing out there for someone so young and inexperienced (ya certainly wouldn’t know it watching him perform!)

…and I love how he invites family to share moments with him and his fans.

David has six more concerts left. Checked the extended weather forecast for all the cities he’s appearing in and it looks like pretty smooth sailing ahead with not much precipitation, but very cold temps. Only Boston has a chance for snow, otherwise all clear. Hope it stays that way.:D

Hope Angelica and everyone else who attended the David Love-Fest are still breathing! 😆
David is an amazing man and performer. There is no one else like David.

    Good night, and for David…

    Dear lord,

    Please take care of David.
Watch over him, protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with loving and supportive people who love him unconditionally as we, his devoted Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he feels weary.
Give him stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt.
Give him joy when he feels sad and never allow David to feel alone or lonely.
Give us the wisdom to always do right by David.
Help us support David so that it’s always in his best interest.
A SPECIAL REQUEST LORD…CLOAK DAVID AND HIS TOUR COMPANIONS IN YOUR PROTECTIVE ARMS AS THEY JOURNEY THROUGH HARSH & COLD CONDITIONS DURING HIS WINTER TOUR, AND PLEASE LORD, KEEP DAVID AND HIS VOICE HEALTHY AND STRONG as he fulfills his Destiny which was written in his Book of Life before he was born.
Though we may be unworthy Lord, we humbly pray. Amen

David, have a good & restful night’s sleep with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always.

And so it begins ya’ll. I’ve only had 2 shows close to me “close to me.. may mean something different to other folks”.. and today is one of them. However today’s show is a first in a very big way .. Mariah .. Mariah will get to meet her David..

She has flip flopped about this for the last two weeks.. so I really don’t know how it’s going to go for her.

She’s excited one minute, and scared the next.

Everyone send good vibes her way .. I know she’ll definately be wearing one of her David shirts, but I’m not sure which she’ll settle on until we actually leave for the venue.

Either way.. when the pictures post up.. let’s all hope there’s one of him there with a cute little brunette !!!!

p.s. I forget .. for those of you who DON’T know.. Mariah is my granddaughter.. who just turned 3 last week.

A gracious good morning to all from Cleveland!

The concert was, I don’t know, some kind of next level stuff going on here. Ram, you are so right about the hands and shoulders. I commented about that last night at the get together after the concert. I was mesmerized by his hands. They are the biggest man-hands I have ever seen on such a little guy. And he had this thing he did between songs like rolling or shrugging his shoulder and seemed to use them and his hands so much during performance. I’m telling ya, the guy is taking it and us, to another place and it is a mighty fine place to be. ahem. But let me move on to the most important part…the Voice. I have heard it before live but these songs showcase it so well and he has such a love for them that the emotion is palpable and almost too intense to handle in the same room. I spent much of the second half in a state of acute rapture and awe. He is phenomenal. Like nothing I have ever experienced. That voice is the most achingly beautiful sound I have ever heard and hearing it live is, like I said, almost too much for the senses.

I booked the show for Cleveland late, as being so far, I hadn’t even planned to go but I am so glad I did! When I went online to buy tickets, everything they offered was row 19-21. I called the theater and the lady there said there was only one ticket closer, in seat 405D, on the side. When the usher took me to my seat, it was actually 3rd row, as there is no row A and as I was on the end, my seat curved toward the stage. In short, my friends, I found myself 2 feet from the stage! I could have reached out and touched his shoe. I did reach out and touch his hand as he was leaving. It was soft and warm like my heart by that time. It was the physical embodiment of the emotional connection he had made.

After the concert TOfan, Mr, TOfan, Refnaf, YJfanofdavid, Rebeccafod, Conditioner, and Betsy and another lady who was a friend of Rebeccas’ whose name escapes me, (sorry), went to dinner. It was so great meeting all of them for the first time. They are all just lovely people and it was such a warm, comfortable feeling there.

Gotta run. My flight doesn’t leave till 5:30pm and I got up this morning and called about tickets for Wicked. It is the last day for the show and the lady at the hotel desk said they were probably sold out. Anyway, I called and they had one left for the 1pm show! Guy said it must have been waiting for me.

So thank you, David, for bringing me to Cleveland, for the wondrous, spell-binding performance you gave, for great people you have added to a life that you continue to enrich beyond what I ever imagined.

Talk to y’all later when I get home.

    Angelica,
“It was soft and warm like my heart by that time.” Love that!

The whole concert feels like an open heart surgery. Doesn’t it? He slices us open, takes our our heart gently, caresses it, and mends it for whatever that ails it, and ever so lovingly put it back. We are completely exposed and vulnerable, yet place complete trust in him for whatever it is that he does do to us. I feel like having a new heart after every concert, and a bit more ready to face whatever life is bringing next.

Such a pleasure to finally meet you Miss Angelica, and to reunite with snowangels and other David-friends, in my hometown!

Angelica, so glad you sat two feet away from the stage, and this morning you got the last ticket to Wicked. See, it’s all meant to be!

Safe travels to everyone going tonight.

Bebereader, love hearing stories like your manicure shop! Gave 8 CD’s to local assisted-living and nursing homes. The thank you’s I’ve received said the residents and their visitors are enjoying them very much!

ram – I hadn’t watched many of the pop performances (other than FOG and The Riddle)on this tour so I was really surprised when I watched the Cleveland performances. WOW! As you said, “intangibles” …and he has them in spades!

Dawn, hoping to see a pic of your adorable granddaughter!

Glad to hear several were able to get together after the concert.

I’ve watched every single video from last night. I’m completely at a loss for words, he is in his element for sure.

Angelica.. You touched his hand…the largest hands I’ve ever seen. Maybe you can put into words what is happening, his performance level has gone up if that were possible. It’s scary to think where this is all going to end up. Hope to hear from you soon.

Emmiegirl and ram…intangible…what is going on with our young man?

SB…Moonbeam…I’d love to take credit for that but lovely bebe said a verse from I don’t remember where and I knew we had to use it….it’s perfect for David and the whirlwind he’s in, but by all accounts loving it.

    Wignapabereri….thanks for posting!

    Marlie…yes a labor of love for sure…lol

Dawn/abrra….so many shows…you two are so blessed to be able to hear The Voice so many times. I can’t wait to hear about your granddaughter dawn…thanks abs for all the videos.

bebe is five minutes away from the venue…thank God they made it safely.

    She’s spazzing…lol

by all accounts David will be on the Early show tomorrow…I’ve got it all set to record.

I’ve been home a few hours now, spending time with my family and trying to process this weekend. I met the best people. I may have crushed Angelica with my hug! Sorry 🙂
David was so amazing. I can’t even go there yet. He was better than I’d ever heard him. Something happens to him when he sings these songs, and I can’t wait for the whole world to hear him. It looks like it will happen with all of these appearances he scheduled for!

SF–do you have any idea why I can’t get any ILAA photo galleries after KC to open? Everything up until that point (Waukegan) does. Just wondering–I’d love to see the Santa hat stuff.

Angelica {{hugs}} I know we are in for another more in depth recap from you when you’ve had a chance to come down (if you can) from the euphoria of seeing David The Voice, live.

Dawn.. your granddaughter could have gone down in history as the one who gave David his first kiss! It must have been confusing for her not to be able to kiss him. What a sweet little girl. I hope she had a great time! 😀

bebe, glad you made it safely!

Hope to hear more about the pre-VIP get-together with pix!

I can hardly put into words what happened last night at the Wellmont Theatre in Monclair, NJ. David was magnificent; beyond words, beyond what I ever imagined! That goes for the pop songs as well as the Christmas portion of the show.

He came out, running onto the stage, a la rockstar, to “Waiting For Yesterday”. Very agile, he fleeted across the stage and back in almost every number, involving the audience more times than I could count. This was clearly a different David than I last saw in Atlantic City. He was comfortable; this was HIS audience! Cocky, bouncy, giddy, laughing, cracking jokes, “You guys ready for Christmas?”, he teased, as he ran off to change his clothes. Even when he wasn’t sure of the beginning of the piano part of “The Riddle”, he handled himself with grace.

This was the Sayreville crowd, the noisy bunch of fans whom, as you may recall, don’t hold back their emotions and fascination with everything David. In response, he let go and showed his thanks and affection right back, communicating more than ever while introducing each song, conveying why the song was important to him.

I took my friend Ana with me last night, as a pre-Christmas present. Yes, she rooted for David on AI, but didn’t follow him when the show was over. She and I have been friends for years and have always had a strong musical connection. But as many youtube videos that I sent her over the last year or so, she didn’t quite feel it the way I do. I knew the next step was for her to see David LIVE. She went in with an open mind last night and WE NOW HAVE OURSELVES ANOTHER FAN! I caught Ana with tears in her eyes during “Ave Maria”, dancing and singing during “Feliz Navidad”, swooning to “Fields of Gold”, very involved in all the songs and listening intently to David’s intro to “Prayer Of The Children”, where he showed his generosity to various charities. She hugged me a few times during the show and whispered “Bebe, you are so right about him.” All it took was one show and it sounds we have another case of ODD on our hands. I’m going to try to get her to post a little comment on here.

Due to icy roads, we had to miss the pre-show dinner but was overjoyed to meet Dawn on the way into the arena, waved to Marlie while we were in our seats, and ran into happy, Astrid, djbell and Ninaf on the way out. Seems like old friends.

As grateful that I am for the generous youtube videos, they really don’t do justice to The Voice. You have to be there to witness the greatness that is David Archuleta. David’s talent is undeniable. One cannot sit in his presence while he sings and be anything other than in awe as he belts out songs like Ave Maria, O Holy Night and Silent Night. His vocals fill up the entire arena and all of your senses and they transport you to a heavenly planet. I’ve been to many concerts but have never before witnessed this utterly amazing feeling.

Dawn: We only had a chance to hug but it was a good one! I missed seeing your little granddaughter, Mariah, David’s #1 fan. I did catch some of your vids and they’re awesome! Thank you for capturing the pre-song banter that often gets omitted in most concert videos.

Hope to see you at Westbury but it’s going to be a last minute thing. The part I left out of my recap is that I hurt my ankle last night. Not sure if it’s sprained or broken but I’m in pain now and can’t walk on it. With all the icy road talk you’d think that I’d’ve slipped on the ice, riiiiight? But, noooo. I stopped at my friend Ana’s house to see her new place and missed a step coming down the stairs. I feel so clumsy, silly, and all that. I’m having a hard time coping with being unable to get around. If it doesn’t heal in a week, I’ll have 2 Westbury VIP tickets hanging around.

WOW! So many great videos from Montclair by Dawn & Djxox (posted at Snow Angelz).

I’m posting the Prayer early tonight I know, but since David is in my time zone I thought it would be OK. I’m trying to get ready for my trip to Foxwoods & Westbury. I will be flying out on Wednesday and Bubbly will be picking me up at the airport, then we will drive to CT! This will be her first time seeing David, and she will be meeting him too at the VIP! I’m so excited for her (and for me!). I have never been to that part of the country and I am so stoked! The only thing that would make it better is if my sis could join me 😥 But I have a new friend in Bubbly. And she sounds “bubbly” too! 😆

    Bebe,

Now get a hold of yourself, girl. This is David we’re talking about. Fi-na-le. Obtain some pharmaceuticals and go. They probably have wheel chairs at the venue. You might even get some extra special attention in a wheel chair at the VIP. Isn’t that worth a little bit of suffering? Now let’s hear no more talk about you not going to Westbury. The very idea of letting a little broken ankle stop you.

Seriously, I hope you’re feeling better soon. But you have to go.
