David Archuleta ~ BEGIN.

Posted by djafan on Friday, July 13, 2012

THERE ARE JUST NO WORDS.

TXNancy said:

Remember this twitpic from Kari back in March? Now, we have 18 amazing seconds of David’s glorious voice, singing “Broken”! How can we go to sleep tonight? How can we wait 26 more days to have BEGIN. in our hands? I, for one, can hardly wait to read the liner notes, as I expect David’s words to be exceptionally heartfelt and emotional.

@DavidArchie in the studio recording an original song. Cannot wait for you all to hear it. http://t.co/CEnsTlrS— Kari Sellards (@kariontour) March 25, 2012

~David Archuleta ~ A Work Of Art – Inside & Out

A Masterpiece

By MT

When God created men
They were not all the same.
Each from a different palette
So many of them came

But every now and then
A special one is made,
Painted with touches of color
From the beauty that God gave.

From the dewy green of grass
He’s given him his eyes.
With the color of cherry blossoms
He painted lips to smile.

From the softly falling snow
He found the color for his teeth.
And for his skin, a special treat,
The dew and color of peach.

And from the blackness of the night
His locks of hair are hewn.
And then he gave him breath
So with golden voice he’d croon.

His heart was made with special care
From the garden of the rose.
In deepest red he fashioned it
With love and care and hope.

When giving him his inner light,
He reached into the sun.
He knew this one would shine so bright
He’d be known by everyone.

As he gazed upon this creature,
God knew he’d cast a spell.
He’d made this one a masterpiece.
He’d used his palette well.

David Archuleta ~ On to Utah and Abravanel Hall

Posted by Angelica on Sunday, December 18, 2011

Hard to believe this incredible tour is almost at an end.  What a beautiful gift he has given to us all this Christmas.  To those attending the concert at Abravanel Hall, may you be blessed with comfort and joy and safe travels.

For each and every one of us making final preparations for the holidays, take time to have a Silent Night and reflect on the true reason for the season.

I need a Silent Night

I’ve made the same mistake before
Too many malls, too many stores
December traffic, Christmas rush
It breaks me till I push and shove.

Children are crying while mothers are trying
To photograph Santa and sleigh
The shopping and buying and standing forever in line
What can I say?

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night

December comes then disappears
Faster and faster every year
Did my own mother keep this pace
Or was the world a different place?

Where people stayed home wishing for snow
Watching three channels on their TV
Look at us now rushing around
Trying to buy Christmas peace.

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night.

What was it like back there in Bethlehem
With peace on earth, good will toward men?

Every shepherd’s out in the field
Keeping watch over their clock by night
And the glory of the Lord shone around them
And they were so afraid

And the angels said fear not for behold
I bring you good news of a great joy that shall be for all people
For unto you is born this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace

I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night
To end this crazy day with a silent night.

This event is attended by tens of thousands each year as a celebration of the US Constitution. There will be awesome exhibits, lots to do and most importantly, there will be Daaavvviiiid!!! So much love was shown to him by fans in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Let’s show him he is just as welcome by fans in his own country. Come join us and Celebrate him home!  As the above post from the Constitution Week site states, the show starts at 6pm, gates will not open until 5pm. David will be on at 8pm followed by even MORE fireworks!

It’s gonna be LIVE from beginning to end and you.know.what.he’s.like.in.live performance.

Nuff said.

OK, now the News.

There was a post by SweetonDA, who is from Arizona, that triggered an email from Sandybeaches (making a serious offer, she can share that part if she’d like) that put me in contact with Barbara Stowell, a most amazing woman from Constitution Week. This put things in motion that have brought an exciting opportunity for all of David’s fans. Many David fans have contacted her regarding the Constitution event, including me, so because of this she came up with a great idea for us fans; I can’t thank her enough and team David for giving us the greenlight!

A donation of $25 will guarantee you entrance to the event and a seat in an area set up for fans close to the stage!  She asked if I thought the fans would be interested I said yes and volunteered to distribute wristbands and collect the donations  :)

The event starts at 6:00pm and they will have a designated area to line up.  Remember that it will still be very warm so be prepared.

Let us know if you are going, what your plans are, or any ideas you may have to give David a great welcome.  Seriously, let’s make it happen! Roses to stomp, balloons, posters, or whatever we can come up with.  Seeing a lot of folks wearing wristbands would be awesome as he would know they were fans.

You will need to send a self addressed stamped envelope with a money order made out to: ConstitutionWeekUSA

If you are interested send an email to “TheVoiceDA@gmail.com” and we will provide you with the address to where you send your donation to obtain a fan seat wristband.

*Addendum 8/14/11*

Djafan has been in contact again with Barbara Stowell of Constitution Fair to update her.  Barbara  made a small request that folks wear red, white and blue to the event on Saturday in keeping with the spirit of the festivities!  Will try to get this message out to all the sites and twitter.  I wonder if that goes for David too?  That works for me!

The Lacer of Souls

Posted by Angelica on Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Some years ago, I attended a seminar on the nature of art.  The professor had, what I considered, an annoying habit of repeatedly stating that if art is whatever the artist says it is, then he could just bend down and tie his shoe and call it art.  Finally, unable to stand hearing that one more time, (and having a real love for the abstract-expressionists,) I walked up to him before class, handed him a copy of this quotation, and wordlessly took my seat.  When class began he rather sheepishly read it out loud, joined the class in a good-natured laugh at himself, and never derided the art of tying shoes again.

For more than a quarter of a century I have held on to this fragment of parchment, now faded and discolored with age.  The original text asserted that it was an old Talmudic saying, but I can discover no proof of this.  It is a voice speaking from the dust a riddle I have felt compelled to solve.  Often I have taken it out and held it reverently in my hand, like some ancient talisman, willing it to give up its secrets.  Even when giving it to the redundant professor, I did not fully comprehend its meaning.  I only meant to silence him, and like the talisman is was, it worked like a charm.  I have had to wait many years for the answer to even be born, and many more for the missing piece of the puzzle to emerge into the shape of David Archuleta.

Art is so much more than idea and technique.  Having a high degree of  imagination and skill is essential but if one fails to make a meaningful connection, that’s not art.  That’s entertainment.  Art is a form of entertainment too, but infinitely more and that something more comes at a cost to its maker.

The  pieces of the puzzle must fit precisely.  A connection must be made with those who receive and that requires a vulnerability few have the courage to expose.  It is an easy thing to be physically naked on stage; so much more difficult to be naked emotionally.  The former has merely the ability to titillate.  The latter possesses the formidable power to personally communicate with another soul.

Now I understand how it is that an artist is not only the special work that he or she does, but the scope of all his days.  It is the life, the human being behind the work, that lives inside the gift, animates it and makes it move and breathe.  It occurs only in those few who are capable of pouring into their work everything they are.  David Archuleta does not simply possess a great voice.  David is the Voice.  It is he himself who fills the farthest corners of venues to the rafters when he sings, he who seeps into hearts and saturates souls to overflowing.

He has tried to tell us this before a song.  This is what I believe, this is what I feel, this is who I am.  Can you hear me?  Hear and understand that what you perceive is not merely my voice but the whole of my being transformed into sound and the song of myself is my gift to you.

It is a sound as pure as the life and soul behind it, as rich as the scope of all his days, and the accumulated wealth of countless acts of sacrifice and kindness.  It… he, lifts you up and wafts through you like a clean mountain breeze, redolent of spice and wild flowers and a kind of natural, virtuous sensuality.

Now I understand what has mystified me for years and how rare a thing it is to find.  Finally, I know the meaning behind the phrase,”.…and his gift, if is true, may show itself even in the manner in which he laces his shoes.”

He who laces the shoe is himself the gift.  The gift shows himself every time he appears.  He is there, always, in whatever he does, the living personification of his art.  He is the piece of the puzzle that fits so tightly there is no space he does not fill.  He is David Archuleta and he IS the Voice.
