Sounds of David Luncheon and Fan Mixer
On Saturday April 6, 2013 a group of devoted fans got together in honor of David Archuleta and his music with the goal of benefiting Child Fund International and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, two children’s’ charities that David supports.
Pamela Pike did a terrific job arranging this event which I had the pleasure of attending! We had a delicious buffet lunch consisting of grilled chicken and steak, together with greens and wonderful desserts.
I had a great time with Winnie, she’s lovely. It was also great fun meeting up with known fans and meeting new ones. I hope we can continue to have fan get-togethers.
Here are the highlights:
Mariners Elementary School Choir of Newport Beach sang for us. It was a great surprise to hear them sing Nandito Ako, they were so cute.
Newport Platinum Dance Academy danced to Zero Gravity and My Kind of Perfect, some more cuteness.
Singer/Songwriter, Sunny Hilden emceed the event. She has so much energy and spunk. Sunny handled the auction duties had us in stitches. While auctioning off a large David poster she encouraged us by saying it could serve as a wrinkle remover lol. I can see why she is David’s friend. It was a privilege to have some words with her. She is a genuine person. She loves and admires David. Sunny spoke of David throughout the event, sharing how she met him at the AI finale when Randy Jackson told a bunch of kids wanting to sing for him to go sing to Sunny, she’s a singer and songwriter, so they all went to her and sang. David waited to the end. She knew then he had something special and kept in touch with him. Sunny also shared with us a story about The My Kind Of Christmas poem David read to the kids on the Christmas tour. They are actually part of the lyrics of a song by the same name she had never completed. It has since been completed and Sunny read it to us. She shared that the melodies in this song are beautiful. She’s hoping and praying that David record’s it when he returns (I added to my list of prayers).
I was so excited to meet Michael Orland, Musical Director of American Idol. He and I have some tweet history and I’ll never forget him saying “David came to us a genius and left a genius”.
Dorian Holley, AI vocal coach, spoke so highly of David and his time on American Idol. Noting how David in his quiet way stood his ground on things going on behind the scenes. Dorian mentioned how everyone liked David and that his work ethic was something else.
Special video appearances by:
Rosanne Simunovic better known as Masterclass Lady who is a voice instructor also spoke highly of David and has a huge admiration for not only his voice but person. She told the story of meeting David during AI tour in Canada. That upon meeting and introducing herself to David he quickly asked her for help in regards to his singing, always trying to improve.
Dean Kaelin David’s voice instructor sent a video in which he spoke about his singing and the decision of going on a mission. Dean got teary at one point talking about David’s decision.
I understand this will be on the DVD of the day. I hope it has Kari’s parting words at the end, had us in tears.
I was able to speak to Kari for a bit and meet Jon “The Broken Man” I named him. I introduced Winnie to her as a new fan. Kari asked Winnie how she became a fan and Winnie told her because of Nandito Ako. Kari’s face lit up and said “Wasn’t he good?” lol We said, “YES! Still hoping for that DVD!”
Kari thanked us for our support of David through tears. Told us she and David are so appreciative of all we do for him and that David WILL START WHERE HE LEFT OFF UPON HIS RETURN AND THAT THINGS WILL BE BIGGER AND BETTER!
I have chills every time I repeat this. So let the countdown continue.
They played I’ll Be Waiting by Aaron Paul in closing.

Meeting the 50 Champions of @CMNhospitals! What cool kids #celebration11
Actually more than just 50 haha
David is at Disney World in Orlando this weekend for the 2011 celebration of The Children’s Miracle Network, a charity that raises funds for children‘s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. The celebration honors the champions, one child from each state, representing all of the children who benefit from CMN’s efforts.
“Meredith Vieira and David helped get the morning started with a Champion’s breakfast. Pictured here are Texas and Oregon Champions Dustin and Hannah!” ~ Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Each of these children has been treated for a serious illness at a CMN hospital. This weekend’s celebration affords them the opportunity to catch up with some very special Disney characters and to visit the attractions at Disney World. They will be honored tonight at an awards ceremony and treated to a performance by David, with background vocals by Sunny Hilden, one of David’s songwriting collaborators.

“Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was founded with two simple goals.
Help as many children as possible by raising funds for children’s hospitals.
Keep funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children.
The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family, John Schneider, Mick Shannon and Joe Lake. As of 2011, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have raised more than $4.3 billion—most of which is donated a dollar or two at a time.”

Composition in Words and TwitterCloud ~ Angelica
The day my daughter was born, right after her birth, the doctor held up a screaming, messy, little blob of pure joy so that I could see her. I touched her hand and she continued to scream. I spoke to her, and immediately she became quiet. She opened her eyes and searched for the source of those words. She recognized my voice. I spoke to her with words that she could not understand, but they reached her anyway…. “Hey, there little one.” Four words spoken with tenderness by a voice that was familiar were a comfort to her when everything around her was unfamiliar.
Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller, is not far from my home. At the age of six, having been blind and deaf since the age of nineteen months, Helen stood at a water pump and discovered the beauty of a word. W-a-t-e-r. That word changed everything for her. Words rescued her from an existence that was dark and lonely and allowed her to inspire an entire world. Do you remember the afternoon of February 22, 2011? @DavidArchie tweeted that he would have a vlog up soon. We waited, almost patiently. After the uncertainty of the announcement of his release from the Jive roster and the release of his management, we needed to hear what he had to say. We hung on his every word. The David family huddled together for words of reassurance.
I came to love David through the words he sang. I came to admire David because of the words he spoke and wrote. I have grown to respect David not only because of the words he chooses to use, but because there are words that he refuses to use…words of negativity or gossip….words to retaliate or tear down. I love his humorous words…tales of huge grapes, mistaken identities (Ricky Archuleta), giant bowls of guacamole, and whether or not fish have brains….all of these words endear him to me.
With David as my inspiration, I hope to be more careful with the words I choose, and I want my life to reinforce the optimism, hope, and encouragement that my words express. I will not be perfect, but I want to think twice before I hurl words into the atmosphere. Once a word has been received by another person, it is irretrievable. As David recently quoted, the lack of words can be as harmful as harsh words, so I want to communicate with those so important to me David once said that a smile can make someone’s day. It’s true. It’s also true that a kind word has the power to make a huge difference in the life of another person.
So now we wait for more words from David, more songs, more tweets, more news of tour or an appearance or a music label or new management. While we wait, we’ll use words that make a difference….words like Music for Smiles, Rising Star Outreach, Children’s Miracle Network, Stand Up 2 Cancer. We’ll use our words to remind David that we are his fans. We’ll remind each other what a blessing it is to be an Archie. We’ll use our word power to make a difference.
After all, we never know who’s listening.

A Giving Heart
In a time when things are changing fast
And we need a light to shine
A young man comes upon the scene
And holds a steady line
With a heart that’s pure and a smile of gold
He sings of love and hope
Tells all who’ll listen to not give up
Though the future’s uncertain, he knows
Our trials and tribulations, he says
are a way to grow and learn
And the pain of today can be joy tomorrow
as our lives continue to turn
Don’t give up, It’ll be okay
We all have days we cry
But the world is full of wonderful things
If we have the courage to try
In a world where we may feel alone
a young man flips the coin
and shows us those less fortunate
in help we need to join
He says to look outside ourselves
to find those most in need
And give to them with open hand
for this our souls will feed

Hello Voice Team!
We want to make sure you’re aware of the latest Angels For A Cause campaign to promote The Other Side of Down by bringing uplifting and hopeful music to those kids and their families dealing with medical heartache. We had discussed doing something like this in chat one night but hadn’t figured out the logistics and then this campaign appears, it’s a perfect fit!
See below for all the details from AFAC. There is also a link to Angels For A Cause on the right sidebar under Charities David Supports.
Music for Smiles~Touching the Hearts of Children with David’s Music ~
Angels For A Cause is proud to announce our brand new project!! We all love David’s new CD “The Other Side of Down” and it truly lifts our spirits on a daily basis when we are feeling a little down. Well, its time to share David’s music with children who need a smile and positive messages through song. We started by contacting all the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and got a HUGE response from lots of hospitals that are SO EXCITED to receive David’s music! We have over 75 hospitals participating in this project and probably one close to where you live! They are going to use the CD’s for various things such as prizes for games, a present for a child’s birthday, a gift for a child going through a tough procedure, music therapy for anxious kids, discharge gifts and more! “Things are Gonna Get Better” would be the perfect song for a worried child, dont you think?
So, we are all here to support David, right? Now, you can support his music while at the same time giving a sick child hope and inspiration! This project is very easy! All you have to do is purchase David’s TOSOD CD’s and have it shipped to a CMN Hospital of your choice! You can purchase 1, you can purchase 10! Its up to you! You can send to one hospital or many hospitals! This is a great way to share David’s CD as well and create new fans! We did some research and David’s CD’s are available right now for a low price online through:(prices and availability may vary)

On a side note I want to thank all who participated in the Spanish Chat. There were many chatting and many viewers. Many countries were represented, Honduras, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, and Mexico. Forgive me if I missed your country but the chat was fast and fun, giving me some practice with my own Spanish.
David love is alive and well in the Latin world. They love and comment on all things David just like we do. ♥ And our English speakers did a great job in jumping into the conversation. It does give an appreciation on how to use Google translator on the fly, not easy.
David’s Latina fans asked if we could do this again and I said sure! So we will be having Spanish Chat on Fridays starting at about 6pm Pacific Time. I let them know that I won’t always be there by that time but that they can get started if they want, it was a unanimous yes! The regular Saturday Chats will continue as usual.
