I’m left thinking that David will do what David will do. He can come across as submissive and meek, but always he seems to act very deliberately. Like when a DJ asks him a perverse question, and he replies, Huh? causing the DJ to drop the question or when David doesn’t know what to say and he turns the question back to the one who asked it by inquiring, Well, what would YOU do? David is smart and tactful.  It’s obvious that a faith life is a priority to David. Regardless of any pressure to do or not do a mission, David is a fine young man who can stand on his own two feet. Even though he appears to be searching to learn more about himself and to find out who he really is, I think that who he really is, is carved deeply into his being. Things happened so quickly for David, he didn’t have time to mull them over as he appears apt to do. Perhaps that has caused him to need some time out so that he can do things in his time and in his way. I’m certain that whatever he decides will be a blessing to others. I don’t know one single fan of David that doesn’t respect David and his decisions. We may feel down when we equate success with being in the limelight, because truly David deserves to be in the limelight across the globe and right here in the USA. Nonetheless, we all know David doesn’t equate success with being in the limelight so ultimately, if David is content, we’re content. David has reminded us about the other side of down. Despite how we might come across, we all know this. For someone to spend money to go to his concerts as often as they are able, shouldn’t be judged. If David were a flirty type of guy, perhaps one could be considered a stalker. But no, David represents all that is beautiful, good and true about life. It’s for this reason that fans want to see him often and get to know him better. A person who follows David IS in their right mind, a very sound mind. If the person wants David to remember their name, I think that’s great. David comes across as someone you could be on a first name basis with; he feels like a good friend. He’s the kind of person I’d like to have as a friend. I don’t know a whole lot about being a Mormon, however, I get the impression that going on a mission is very important to people of that faith. This facet of the Mormon faith should certainly be respected, nonetheless, fans still have a right to their opinions and ideas. It doesn’t mean they’re selfish or won’t support David’s decisions. Fans are merely expressing what they feel is best for David. No one here intends to claim to know what that ultimately is or to dictate that to David. No, we’re not the producer who tells David, Hey David, dress, act, walk and talk this or that way and it’ll put you in the limelight. We know our opinions and ideas for him are just that, and not a road map for what he must do or we’ll drop him. David has asked us to stand by him, and we will, come what may. David being David works just fine. God has graced David with many beautiful blessings. We fans just want to bask in some of those blessings that are so bounteous that you just got to know, they’re meant to be shared.

Easter Sunday would find me at her door with a pot of Easter lilies and we would take time to admire them again, as we did every year, the same way. So, how do you find peace?

I find this ex-treeeemly interesting. You would have to know the small town of Vernal, Utah, to really know why I’m amazed. It’s famous for it’s Dinosaur quarry, but that’s about it (well, and now Betty’s Cafe). It’s about a 3-4 hr. drive from SLC on the central-eastern side of the state. I just really wonder what David was doing out there in this small rural, farming town. They have a LDS Temple there that is a beautiful one, perhaps that’s why he went out. Because, then later, he tweeted about being in the ortho’s office and watching a movie on the ceiling screen. He just keeps his motor humming, on that fine tuned and well oiled machine, all the time.

That picutre (in the link) of him at the table, with the sun all hazy around him, there – in the middle of nowhere – … it has a surreal feeling to it. Especially if you know how off the beaten track this is. Waaaaayyyyy out there in the middle of going to or from somewhere else.

He just sits there. Eating. Nonchalantly, as they say.

I don’t know of any picture or setting I have seen recently that so captures the elusive essence of DA like this one does.

Meditation on David:
I remember one time there was a picture of DA in a cross legged sitting pose that spurred us on to many a discussion about his qualities of spirituality. But this unassuming image seems to capture a feeling, an essence, a tide of color and light that quietly engulfs me.

He gets up on a Thursday morning and drives to a Temple well off the beaten path. It is not the first time he has done this. For David, it is just another day in paradise.

First I just want to say, “Welcome Home David Archuleta” and welcome home Kari too!  I enjoyed their stay in the Philippines almost as much as they did, but it’s good to know they are safely on the ground and in the bosom of their families again.

Second, today is the debut of the first installment of Nandito Ako.  There is a live stream here, God willing and the stream don‘t fail to rise to the occasion.  After weeks of TV5′s whipping his fans into a frenzy all over the world, there had better be.  If not, there will be a reckoning and I reckon you all know what I mean by that.  If you think there was weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth in the Nandito Ako trailers, you ain’t seen nothing yet.  Hell nor any woman hath no fury like a person with ODD scorned.

We will not be denied.  We have a personal invitation from the man himself.

I need the Emo-David.  I need the bunny.  I need the hair pulling, the right hook, the head whacking, getting locked in a room and thrown out of the house along with all the pushing, shoving and over-the-top melodrama.  And I need the melody of Nandito Ako sung by the Voice and the tender love scenes between Josh, Anya, and Holly.  I need to cry with him and I need a happy ending with a smiling David..er, Josh.  I need it all and I need it now.  Not because I care about soap operas, but because I care about him and this endeavor we have lived vicariously through for weeks.  So proud of him and his willingness to try what he didn’t know he could do, and see him exceed all expectations time and time again.  I need to be there.  This is my prayer.

Prayers also from The Voice for David on the loss of his Great Grandmamma, Isabel, and for all the family and a very Happy 13th Birthday to his little sister, Amber.

@MyDearWriter, the writer of the movie Nandito Ako, has had some interesting tweets lately.  We’re getting hints…sort of…that keep us guessing what Josh (aka David) will do in the movie.  So it got me thinking…if I was the writer, what kind of scene would I write for David?

There would be close-ups, lots of close-ups, and that look…..you know that look he gave the girl at the end of the Crush video?  THAT look..yeah, the smiling, flirty, the “I can see into your soul” look.  Hmmm…what else?  He would sing (of course he would sing!) something soft and sweet to the leading lady.  He’s the hero, the guy that sweeps the girl off her feet with his charm, his honor and integrity, and his smile.  So, maybe it would go like this:

The sky is overcast (great lighting for those lovely hazel eyes).  David is walking toward a street corner in the city, singing “My Kind of Perfect”…the leading lady is walking toward the same street corner from the opposite direction. “is she the one, is it today, will I turn the corner, see my future in a beautiful face?”  As they each round the corner, they nearly run into each other.  They stop, David apologizes. She smiles, he smiles…they say goodbye, walk past each other around the corner. David is singing again; they both stop, turn around, walking to the street corner again….each hoping to sneak a glimpse of the other.  They peek around the corner at the same time…face to face…David is singing “maybeeeee”….ah, I love happy endings!

So, what kind of scene would you write for David?

Inquiring minds want to know: Counting the days – how do we count the ways?

I’ve been asked by Abrra of The Voice to do something about a countdown calendar for people to use to track David’s mission. So I’ve been thinking.

My first idea was to create a page-a-day calendar where you tear off a page each day. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that there is only one site I could find to create one and it would cost a minimum of $20 per year per copy of the calendar. They only offer black and white and all the copies would have to be ordered at one time. Shipping would be a PITB.

Continuing with professionally-printed calendars,we could go with a 24 month monthly format (perhaps like the one I did for 2011). Art could be added to the individual dates for the countdown. I do love spotlighting the best of fan photography like this. If you’re obsessive you could cross out each day as it passes. Cost would depend on the quality we chose.

We could have a poster calendar printed for each year. This would be fun to mark off the days,but I don’t personally have space for one, do you?

It could be a desktop calendar like this with not much room to personalize the dates but cute and doesn’t take much room. By the way,yes,I like Shutterfly and similar services because that way I don’t have to be involved in ordering or shipping and I know exactly what you’ll get.

We could create a journal format so you could keep notes of how you’re doing or things you wish you could share with David. Or something that would fit a standard planner binder.

Finally,I could create printable calendar pages that you could print yourself. The thing about doing this is that many of David’s fans do not have good color printers and 24-25 pages would be expensive to print. These could have great art of course–they could be quite customized. But I would need a lot of encouragement from people who absolutely promised to print them.
